Bosphorus
The Bosphorus, or "Bosporus" with its historical name, is a strait and international waterway that separates the Asian and European continents and connects the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea. The shores of the Bosphorus are home to many structures worth seeing. The Bosphorus generally extends in the northeast-southwest direction and divides the city of Istanbul into two: the European Side and the Anatolian Side. The residential area spread on both sides of the Bosphorus is called Bosphorus.
There are 15 July Martyrs, Fatih Sultan Mehmet and Yavuz Sultan Selim suspension bridges on the Bosphorus, which is the narrowest passage for international maritime transportation. These bridges connect the two sides of Istanbul and also create a transition point between the European continent and the Asian continent.
